Andrea Jade Colomb, known as AJ, is a South African director with a sharp instinct for comedy, character and beautifully timed visual storytelling. Her work balances strong cinematic craft with a playful, irreverent sensibility — finding humour in the everyday and building worlds that feel both visually considered and genuinely human.

AJ began working on film sets as a teenager, going on to hone her craft through behind-the-scenes filmmaking and assisting directors. In 2017, she won a Young Director Award for her film Visit Iceland, and has since built a commercial portfolio for brands including Barclays, eBay, T-Mobile, Philips and Nivea.

Born just outside Johannesburg, AJ still brings plenty of that early mischief to her work. When she’s not behind the camera, she’s usually at the gym, eating something she probably shouldn’t, or discussing life’s bigger questions with her dog. Her ultimate dream is to live out her Legends of the Fall fantasy; horse, rain, flowing hair and dramatic soundtrack included.
