Live Original: Tom Brown Crafts Glenlivet’s Bold Celebration of Individuality

The Visionaries’ director Tom Brown delivers a bold celebration of originality for Glenlivet’s “Live Original” campaign.

The Visionaries’ director Tom Brown teamed up with Impero and Naf+ to bring Glenlivet’s “Live Original” Campaign to life. A bold call for consumers to choose the unexpected and embrace their individuality, the campaign launches across Nigeria and South Africa.

Balancing a bold visual style with slick movement direction, Tom succeeds in showcasing the elegant and elevated world of Glenlivet Africa.

Here’s what Tom had to say about the project:

‘This was one of those jobs where the concept pushed everyone to think outside the box. Shooting the story in reverse added a really thorny layer of complexity, not just technically, but in performance and choreography as well.

Luckily we had an absolutely legendary team on the ground who walked the entire film through on iPhone with me, making sure we hit every mark and landed every sip.

The other element that could have tripped us up was the sheer number of celebrity cameos, with huge names from film, television and music from across Nigeria and South Africa that all needed to be hot swapped in the scenes for their various markets.

Here again, the team were incredible, having each celeb ready to go at a moment's notice, so we managed to smash through everything while still keeping that Glenlivet sense of laid back style.

Finally, South Africa itself also did a lot of heavy lifting, with incredible light, breathtaking locations (brilliantly adapted by our set designer) and some of the most expert crew I've had the pleasure of working with. This was a perfect blend of talent, planning and execution and I think the final piece speaks to the hard work that went into it.’
